Chapter 6

Hi, this is Gary.

This is an interesting chapter because we see the two opposing sides clearly defined. The socialists are clearly in the majority as they are now in our country. Henry, Dagny, and Frisco appear to be somewhat adversarial but that will change.

Are people like the three mentioned above really a threat to the welfare of society? Or is socialism a greater threat?

John Galt is identified in this chapter.

Read on. The pace quickens.

Hi Gary,
I am going to be on business trip painting the prince of Saudi Arabia's house in Virginia. The company i work for is putting me up in a hotel. I will be there starting the end of this week until the end of March. I plan on catching up on my reading while staying at the hotel. Will be in touch about this very soon :)

Hi Gary

I actually haven't read the book since December. I stopped because I was getting a hard bound copy for Christmas and wanted to have something left to read since I am already in the third part of the book and have read the first few chapters of that part. I think I have about four hundred pages left to read. I plan on getting back to it soon as I have been side tracked by about half a dozen or more books since then. I don't want to ruin anything for those who have not read as far, but I personally don't see the three characters you mentioned as a threat. If anything the socialist ideas practiced in the book seem to cause more harm to the country and more importantly to the creative minds of these main characters and others in the book. These individuals are simply good at what they do and determined to excel in their respective professional fields. While in some respects it may seem that they are only concerned with making a profit (and their hard work deserves such), I personally believe that they are more concerned about doing the best job they can. Others like Oren Boyle and James Taggart knowingly offer inferior products and services, try to pretend that they are concerned about the welfare of the country and it's people, while they secretly try to make their own riches out of the public eye. These man are hypocrites who are tied up in all the political b/s in washington with its lobbyist. The same type of people who have helped run our country into the ground and left it in its current state of disaster. This is really a great book and I'm glad to be reading it. I think that it goes really well with some of the things that we are witnessing at the present.
