Kacie's High School Notebook

I have no doubt that Amanda was the artist.

Words Of Wisdom

These are quotations from Kacie's diary that obviously told a lot about her.

The Enchanted Forest Gets Stranger

Natalie,

We have many pictures of Kacie at the Enchanted Forest but my favorite will always be the one that I recently posted of Nancy holding Kacie in front of the crooked schoolhouse with the old school teacher in the yellow dress looking at Kacie. I can't remember what fairy tale this portrays but I do know that this is the same house that is in the picture that you just posted.

It's strange that you came across this picture in New York and I look at this picture on a regular basis in Kacie's room. It's always gives me a lift. I wonder if this house was moved to the farm in Howard County with many of the other structures.

A Strange Boating Experience

Natalie,
Last weekend we had an experience that was just as incredible as your Enchanted Forest experience. We decided to take our boat to a new community called Palmetto Bluff. It is absolutely beautiful and has been rated as the number community in the U.S. by Travelers Magazine. It's about a half hour trip from our island and is located on the beautiful May River in Blufton, S.C. We had lunch and walked around for a couple of hours and were just blown away by the beauty. For some reason, I couldn't stop thinking that it would have been great to have Kacie with us to see this place. She would have loved it.
Let me backtrack. As you know, we are going to name our boat Sweet Pea in Kacie's memory. We finally got our registration from the state and will be lettering the boat with the name shortly. The company that you found for lettering is located right behind our house here on the island. I've told several long time boaters in the area what we planned to name our boat and they all told me that they had never seen another boat with that name.

Back to the story. As we were walking back to the dock, Kacie was on my mind. I was about to step into our boat when I looked across the dock and saw this boat named Sweet Pea. I got cold chills and Nancy couldn't believe it either.

strange enchanted forest experience

so last week I was in New York all week for work. I was staying at the Hampton Inn in Yonkers. About 30 mins outside of downtown. Anyways, the hotel was brand spanking new and they had black and white photos decorating the whole place. Each Room number had a different small photo with the number. They were all very americana. They had some larger ones around with little sayings next to them. I had been working 14 hour days and was just so tired. I got into the elevator to start another day of work (ugh!) and the elevator door slides closed. There was a photo of it looked like a life size doll house with children. Next to it a saying, "FairyWell my Friend" Then in small type it says where the picture was from and no kidding it says Enchanted forest of Ellicott City, MD. I couldn't believe my eyes! We had just been talking about that place and I was all the way in Yonkers.... what did they have this for. I think it was a message from Kacie.

Snake At The Lake Dream

I had this strange dream last night.

A friend of ours sold us a country home somewhere north of Baltimore. In the back of the house, there was a large lake. Kacie looked about 10 years old and she was playing near the lake with Gus, her pug. As I was walking around the lake, a very large snake like a python or anaconda came out of the water a was crawling along the bank. I panicked and ran around our estate looking for a sword to kill it because I was sure that it would attack Kacie and the dog.

The scene suddenly shifted and I was driving Kacie through Baltimore city in a terrible storm. It was late at night and I could barely see the road. We were headed north on Falls Road to our new country home. Kacie was seated next to me and she had a large pile of some sort of cards that she was trying to organize. I tried to help her but driving was difficult and I kept drifting out of my lane. We never spoke and then I woke up.

Kacie Goes Shopping Dream

I had this dream early this morning.

Kacie and I drove to a huge shopping mall somewhere west of Eldersburg on Liberty Road. She looked about 14. We didn't talk at all during this dream. When we arrived at the mall we walked directly to an electronics store. Interestingly, there was a bed near the entrance so customers could rest for a while and watch the shoppers. After resting, I walked to the rear of the store and watched Kacie while she looked for a cd. Lisa Marshall came into the store and she and Kacie smiled and talked. We then left without buying anything and went to my car. As we drove down Liberty Road, Kacie played a cd that I had recently bought. It made me happy that she liked my music but it got stuck on a song and started buzzing. I then woke up.

the clubby

has anyone seen the new advertisements for "The Clubby" sandwich from Potbelly Sandwich shops? Kacie went through a phase where she was obsessed with ordering club sandwiches... and I wouldn't be surprised if she had called it " The Clubby".

Fish

We took Sweet Pea for a long cruise around the island yesterday and stopped to make a few casts. This is about a 14 inch spotted sea trout. When Jeff visits us this month, we'll be getting a lot of these bad boys and bigger. I've caught several others bigger than this but didn't have a camera, of course.

Enchanted Forest 5/85

Does anyone out there remember the Enchanted Forest out on Rt. 40. As a kid, it was my favorite place next to Ocean City. I'll never forget my first visit with my first grade class in the spring of 1957. Sitting next to Humpty Dumpty was almost as great as meeting Frankie Valli.
